Sen. Watson is busy all right, making Austin much less affordable.
As chair of CAMPO, he’s pushing a toll plan that spends $900 million tax dollars to shift our freeways to tollways.
The kicker is he and his toll lobby pals ignore the fact that fix290.org has a non-tolled parkway solution that would only cost $100 million, compared to the tollers bloated $411 million tollway for Oak Hill at the “Y”.
No wonder Watson banker pals like it - they all want to float the loan, and the construction companies would rather build a $400 million project than a smart $100 million one that moves just as many cars.
